The Cedar Bend Humane Society has a trained and compassionate staff to offer euthanasia as a public service for families who have pets nearing the end of their quality of life.
Knowing when it is time
Your veterinarian can help you through this difficult process. They are best qualified to help determine if your pet is showing signs to indicate they are suffering. Euthanasia is often the most humane choice to end your pet’s suffering.
Once you have made this very difficult decision, please call 319-232-6887 to schedule an appointment with a Medical Technician at the Cedar Bend Humane Society, Monday through Friday. Special appointments may be arranged during the weekend by appointment only.
What to expect
Please bring your pet to the building with the white picket fence. There will be a short form to fill out. The procedure will take place in our medical lab. You will be able to spend time with your pet following the procedure; however, you will not be allowed to be present during the procedure.
There are various costs involved depending on your burial or cremation choice.
Sleep requests cost $60 per animal.

Please remember the good life you gave your pet. Every pet has its own character, its own personality, and its own place in our hearts. No one else could have loved your pet like you did. You gave them food and shelter, love and attention! You cared enough to give them a happy life and a humane and dignified ending. We hope as time passes, the sadness will fade, and the happy memories will last forever.
