Important announcement! CBHS currently has NO kennel space available.

It is with profound regret that CBHS must temporarily suspend the acceptance of owner surrenders, including all cats and all dogs over 30 pounds, effective immediately, due to no available kennel space.

Unfortunately, we have had an overwhelming number of stray and neglected animals enter our shelter over the last several weeks. We are now full to capacity with dogs and cats, and there are absolutely no additional kennels available.

We will continue to accommodate strays from Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, and other contracted partners, but are unable to accept strays from outside Black Hawk County. Upon the availability of space, we will resume accepting owner surrenders. We sincerely appreciate your understanding.

At this time, we are urgently looking for individuals willing to adopt or foster our wonderful shelter pets, giving them a chance for a forever home. We have pets of various sizes, ages, breeds, and personalities waiting to be adopted.

Please, think about opening your heart to adoption! By welcoming animals into your heart and home, you can create extra kennel space and play a vital role in saving more lives.
